The Star Festival "TANABATA"

July 7th is "TANABATA" , The Star Festival, in Japan.

The Star Festival is an event originating from a Chinese legend.
According to the legend, the Milky Way, a river of stars that crosses the sky separated ORIHIME(Vega) and HIKOBOSHI(Altair) and these lovers are allowed to meet only once a year by God on July 7th.

It is said that if you write your wishes on a strip of paper called "TANZAKU" and hang it on the bamboo branch, your wishes will come true!

No only Japanese guests, but guests from all over the world wrote down their wishes on TANAZAKU !

The bamboo tree will be displayed until July 7th.
Please feel free to write your wishes when you come to Hotel Niwa Tokyo!

Relaxation Lounge

There is a "Relaxation Lounge", a 24 hours opened space for our accommodation guest, on the 3rd floor at the Hotel.

The "Relaxation Lounge" is equipped with vending machines, ice dispenser and coin operated washer / dryers, and the free massage chairs which are especially popular among the guests.
Relaxing with the massage chairs really refreshes you after your hard work or walking around Tokyo for sightseeing.

Out side the window there is a terrace garden with herbs growing such as mint, thyme and rosemary.

These house-made herbs are sometimes used in Grill & Bar LIEU for cook !

Hydrangea

The rainy season, known as Tsuyu in Japan, has begun in Tokyo two weeks earlier than usual.
Now the hydrangeas are blooming in our courtyard.

The hydrangeas really match with cloudy sky and drizzling rain, they might be one of the most typical Japanese scenery throughout the year.
